meanfreepathI just got back from the 10:00 Mass at Notre Dame de Lourdes. I don't think there's Mass on campus this Sunday. I was originally thinking about going to the 8:00, but opted for an extra hour and a half of sleep instead.
They had their folk group playing at this Sunday's liturgy. Most of the other times I've been there, the music has been with one cantor and an organ. I had also frequently found the tempi and playing so slow and leaden as to be ponderous. This was different. For the recessional, they chose to do a hymn I had only previously heard at a funeral -- sad and solemn as the casket was rolled in. At a much more lively tempo and with a bouncy guitar accompaniment, it sounded totally different.
