Your presentation will need a focus on layout, and therefore you need WYSIWYG. That's What You See Is What You Get. LaTex is not WYSIWYG, which allows you to focus more on content and ignore layout until you have content--perfect for a paper! But not for presentation slides.
I remember when Eric L. made a presentation using Prosper. It was very cool, as far as I was concerned. But it probably would have gone faster using Powerpoint.
