If there is hope for peace, it lies in crazy fuckheads like Gerry Adams and Khatami as much as the saints like Father Mychal Judge. Good for Harvard for extending the invitation.

Hmm, I don't know all that much about Khatami's positions, but I thought he was supposed to be more moderate--it's the current president, Ahmedinejad, who qualiifies as a crazy fuckhead... Or is Khatami himself still pretty extreme?

He's about as moderate as you can be for an Iranian leader these days, which is still very out there by our standards, but not nearly as skin-crawly as his successor. So while I think they both qualify as crazy, I now feel bad for calling Khatami crazy, as it was a breach of decorum. Ahmedinejad gets no such consideration from me, even ex post facto.
