Bad news for federal science funding, FY 2008

The picture is pretty bleak across the board for major funding agencies, including the NSF, NIH, and DOE, where funding for Fermilab and ITER has been hit hard. My colleagues in particle physics are describing the situation as nothing short of catastrophic for Fermilab, where the NoVA neutrino experiment and R&D for the ILC will suffer heavily and staff may have to be laid off.

I'm really sorry to hear that, but I'll hope for all of us (I work at the NIH institute that makes PubMed Central) that they'll do what they've been doing for the past few months--keep debating and just give us a continuing resolution to keep us going at last year's levels without cuts.
