It's been a while since I've written anything here...
It was a busy week leading up to Pinewoods. I had (in hindsight, perhaps somewhat foolishly) volunteered to give an introductory workshop on LaTeX for the REU students in SEAS this summer, of which we had a few in the lab. So busy was I with research and preparations for the workshop that I did not get to start packing for Pinewoods until scarcely an hour before I was to meet another local dancer for the drive to camp. The workshop went fairly well, aside from some minor technical glitches at the beginning (leaving me ever more convinced that Windows is an absolute pain to work with). Most of the evaluations were quite positive, barring one or two students who basically thought I had wasted their morning.
Pinewoods itself was marvelous. I'll try to write some more about the highlights later.
I am leaving for Maryland tomorrow morning; my maternal grandmother recently had back surgery and I have not yet visited. Unfortunately I will miss
adfamiliares and
jere7my's wedding -- I hope you both have a lovely day.
I had the strangest dream last night -- I dreamt that I was in a Scottish class where the teacher insisted on everyone taking step practice on what amounted to an obstacle course, with steep ramps and steps. I woke up after attempting to do skip-change down a flight of stairs and falling on my face.
