I went last night with some high school friends to watch the local minor league baseball game. Minor league can be nice in that all the seats are pretty good since the stadium is small. I sort of realized that I don't really like baseball and that I have a hard time watching sports in general. I guess I prefer sports and other activities that are participatory, like running. If I lotteried into the NYC Marathon, I would be competing in the same athletic contest with the best athletes in the sport, even if I was running 6 hours. Not that I'm even remotely near the level of fitness needed to run a marathon. But someday, when I'm out of Swat and am not worried about schoolwork, and if my shins, Achilles tendons, and knees don't rebel against really heavy mileage (ie 60+ mile weeks) ...
