Coming home

I've decided to come home. I talked to my prof and he's letting me take Monday off too, so there will be only one tough night of travel instead of two. At this point, when I can spend almost all Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday, and part of Monday in the area, I think it's worth it. Especially since I won't have to be returning to Iowa City at 3:00 am.

Last night Cindy, RaeLin, and Tom came over to our room and we watched The Ring on my roommate Adrian's DVD player. This was a disturbing and frightening horror movie which was originally made in Japanese. Cindy had seen the Japanese version which was apparently worse. The plot centers around a videotape that seems to have fatal effects when viewed; I shouldn't say more.

Today: laundry, Scientific Communications paper, and baking. My sourdough starter seems to be ready, so we'll see what happens with it. There's always supermarket bread if the result is inedible.

fiddledragon recently wrote about her angst when she had a plumbing disturbance in her apartment. I am sorry to write that the same has just happened to me. Fortunately the building manager helped me clean up after I cleared the blockage.

In other news, I now have a suitemate. He's a chemistry REU student. I haven't quite met him yet, only cursorily, but hopefully he'll be a good guy too.
