Aug. 6th, 2004 12:11 amToday (or technically yesterday's) trip to Swat was a productive one.
I had a meeting with (it turned out) a SWIL alum about some work for the Math Forum, a math teaching resources website, that I'm working for.
I caught up with Chris Cothran and some other SSXers about the state of the lab. They've spent the summer putting things back together and have not yet had a chance to collect much data. Aongus is trying to get the ion doppler spectroscopy system working for his thesis. The magnetic probe stalks still need to be installed. They were interested in the dusty plasma stuff I did at UI, so I showed them my PowerPoint.
I went over to the Friends Historical Library and got a tour of the basement vaults of McCabe that hardly anyone sees, thanks to Chris Segal (I know you have an LJ somewhere!) and
crystalpyramid. All the Swarthmore history and memorabilia, as well as the sheer volume of the Friends records, were astounding. And I never knew about all that stuff they kept in the bowels of McCabe...
Lastly, I got to visit
nightengalesknd in her new, posh Philly apartment.
Summer is good.
