Oct. 24th, 2005 02:54 pmArrived in Denver last night. Just came from the morning session of talks. Some of them (particularly this one talk on reconnection experiments on MRX at PPPL) were good, and I actually understood most of them. In others, I was totally lost. The last talk of the morning concerned nonlinear fluctuations of some sort in a toroidal plasma. All I really figured out was that their group was measuring the center of mass motion of these amorphous blobs of "excess density perturbations." The very idea of the physics of amorphous blobs is inherently amusing.
Lunchtime... and then a tutorial talk this afternoon.
