Note to self:

Get the following article from Collier when you have the chance:

Gekelman et al, "Magnetic field line reconnection experiments: 3. Ion acceleration, flows, adn anomalous scattering." JGR 87, 101.

Stenzel and Gekelman published a series of papers in Journal of Geophysical Research on their pioneering magnetic reconnection experiments at UCLA. Some time in December when I was at BMC with prydera and doneril (I think there was dinner, as well as Midnight Breakfast, that night) I had gotten several papers from journals, like JGR, that are only hardbound and only at Bryn Mawr. I do not know why I neglected to get this paper then - it was on the list of papers I had brought with me to get. Perhaps the all-nighter I had pulled the night before had something to do with it, which involved me falling asleep for an hour in Collier and then having to scramble to photocopy things before they closed, or maybe I had run out of money for photocopying.

Apparently, putting dish detergent in pressurized water fire extinguishers renders the water more effective as an extinguishing agent by reducing its surface tension, thereby allowing it to better penetrate burning materials.
