(no subject)
Apr. 25th, 2006 02:35 amAt this point it seems more likely than not that I'll be living in one of the Harvard grad student dorms next year. I'm working on the paperwork for the housing lottery now. This seems to be the strangest rule:
One wonders why those particular instruments get singled out. I'd personally find someone practicing a trumpet or any other brass instrument way more annoying than someone playing the violin. And why the ban against violins and cellos, but not violas?
[Edit: I'm giving up, because I'm being indecisive (as usual), this time about which of the dorms I'd like to live in.]
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
Drums, pianos, organs, electric guitars, violins, and cellos are not permitted. Other musical instruments may be played at a volume that does not disturb other residents. Practice rooms are available through the Music Department. Please see section on "Noise" below for additional guidelines.
