Apr. 17th, 2007 09:34 pmI just heard, on WQXR, a San Francisco Symphony concert in which pianist Leon Fleisher played Mozart's Piano Concerto #12. Apparently he developed focal dystonia in his right hand, which for a time severely limited his performing career, although he has now apparently recovered sufficiently to play with both hands. Now he's playing the American premiere of Hindemith's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, commisioned by a concert pianist who had lost an arm in World War I.
