My advisor wants us to sign up for the 32nd New England Complex Fluids Workshop. Specifically, he's encouraging us to give posters or 5-minute "sound bite" talks. I've given posters at national APS conferences before, but never given a talk in a setting that did not have some pedagogical purpose (such as an REU talk or thesis talk). I'll probably give a equipment construction/preliminary data type of talk, about doing holographic microscopy with the rotating stage. So it'll be a new experience, but a good one; the G2's in my group gave contributed talks at the last March Meeting. I do expect to have some results to present by next year's March Meeting, and it's probably better not to cut my teeth as a speaker there...
