Jan. 20th, 2008 08:45 pmThe New York Giants just scored a touchdown on a run from inside the 1 to regain the lead over Green Bay, 13-10. Prior to the touchdown, the Packers had committed two false-start penalties in a row. As the nominal yardage of the penalty, 5 yards, was less than the distance to the goal line, New York was awarded half the remaining distance to the goal. The thought crossed my mind of what would happen in a Zeno's paradox sort of situation, had Green Bay kept on committing half-the-distance-to-the-goal penalties. Would a touchdown ever result? Footballs not being points, it would probably not take too many iterations before the end of the ball entered the airspace of the goal line, even if the center of the ball remained outside.
