Survived my first day with my undergrad; spent the morning briefing her on theory and showing her stuff -- she'd never seen colloidal particles doing Brownian motion under the microscope. Got a little of my own work done this afternoon and spent some more time teaching her a few basic wet lab things.

I went to Scottish tonight, and I'm afraid to say that for most of the evening my dancing was rotten. However, the final dance on the evening's program was Pinewoods Reel -- and together with the rest of my set, I managed to nail it for the very first time. The last time I had done Pinewoods Reel was maybe a year ago, when I had just started going to Scottish class and most of the terminology was still gobbledygook; I was totally overwhelmed. So it was very satisfying indeed to finally get it tonight. Now I can just look forward to doing it again on the final night of Pinewoods in a couple of weeks...
