Tomorrow morning I am for the first time undertaking one particular duty as a Choral Fellow: I am singing solo at a Saturday Morning Prayers service. I'm doing the arioso "Betrachte, meine Seel" from Bach's St. John Passion, which lies pretty nicely in my tessitura, is relatively straightforward, and is also gorgeous. I ran it through just now with tomorrow morning's organist; unfortunately due to a rehearsal for a memorial service tomorrow we couldn't actually use the organ.
I've been rehearsing the piece for a while and know it solidly, at this point, and with any luck it'll go well tomorrow. This is my first time singing serious music solo in public, and I'm a little more nervous than you might expect. The main thing will be to go to bed early tonight, get a solid 7-8 hours of sleep, and wake up early enough tomorrow morning to have the time to eat something, drink something hot, clear out whatever crud accumulates in my throat overnight, and warm up thoroughly. So if any of you should see me online any time after 11:30ish or so tonight, do have the kindness to remind me to go to bed.
