Feb. 26th, 2009 11:09 pmIt will be a slightly nutty weekend... I've made some progress on the theory project but there's still a lot of work to do there.
Because of my solo on Saturday morning, I must once again ask anyone who catches me online after 11:30 or so tomorrow evening to remind me to go to bed post-haste. After my voice lesson this week, my teacher and I agreed that while I am definitely capable of singing the Bach "Gerne will ich," a lot of it is in a lower portion of my register where I don't carry as well. Frankly, really nailing that aria would require a much more husky bass timbre that my voice doesn't have. So we decided to switch to the other piece I had been working on, one that overall fits my voice better but which I had initially been kind of scared to do because of where it goes in the other end of my register. I'll thus be singing Purcell's "Thou wakeful shepherd, who does Israel keep."
UChoir will be kind of exciting on Sunday. Both our anthems are new music; one is a world premiere and the other will be a US premiere. The composers of both works will be in attendance.
