I have submitted the University portion of the UMD graduate application online. I finally wrote a satisfactory version of the Essay of Doom. Alas, there is also a separate Physics online supplemental form, for which they will email me a separate username and password. However, according to their instructions, the system might not give me acccess to the physics supplemental form for up to 3-4 business days. This seems silly. Were it not for this I would have been finished with the entire graduate application process tonight, all but for sending fall grades to a bunch of schools. Grr.

Oh well... at least the supplemental form will mostly be about the books I've used, according to the recruiting letter they sent me, and it should let me attach my resume. The one nice thing is that the UMD physics department is paying my application fee for me.

So, I wish I could say "done is good", but I'll have to settle for "almost done is pretty good". There are, of course, a few more fellowships I could apply for, but I am now utterly sick of applying to things. I do not want to write another application essay, at least not for a very long time.
