I actually stayed awake in the Monday colloquium today! Instead of sitting down, I stood in the back of the auditorium the whole time, along with a couple of other faculty. The talk was on graphene and was really quite good, at least the parts of it I managed to understand. All the more reason to eventually learn some relativistic QM, and QFT.

I did sit down for the Q/A at the end, and as soon as I sat down, I felt a wave of fatigue come over me. But I remained conscious nonetheless.

Graphene is fascinating! We've been studying it in my condensed matter class. I just did a homework assignment that involved describing what properties of the structure of a nanotube (i.e. rolled graphene) would cause it to be conducting or insulating.

Yes, I had basically the same homework problem once when I took Solid State at Haverford last spring.
