Matt and I were walking on Saturday night up Commonwealth Ave and passed by the memorial to 9 killed during overhaul at the infamous Vendome Hotel fire. May the two FF's who lost their lives yesterday rest in peace.

What an awful summer it's been for the American fire service.

Have you heard about the Zaca fire? It's been raining ash here for almost two months. Firefighters have been working constantly trying to contain the fire, and it sounds like their hard work has finally paid off and they now consider the fire completely contained.

I must confess that I tend to primarily follow structural firefighting news, not that wildland or interface firefighting is any less dangerous.
