So 2 critical things in the lab decided to quit on us today. The argon laser is on its last legs and can't be run for more than a few minutes without major power loss. It probably needs a new tube, which means sending the laser back to the manufacturer, which would take several weeks and be expensive.

And now the computer isn't talking to the Langmuir probe instrumentation via the GPIB board. Lovely. More on this later.

Even thoug my trials and tribulations are merely those of an undergrad organic chem student (I direct your attention to my latest post), you get much sympathy from me in that regard.

j0. Jerome, do you get back before the 14th of August, and if so do you want to go to the beach for a week from the 14th-21st? Cost should be minimal, and weather good.
