Sep. 17th, 2005 02:01 amI went over to Bryn Mawr tonight and met
taneliashke and
doneril for dinner. Afterwards we went to the Eileen Ivers concert. She's a Celtic fiddler, and the music was absolutely amazing... most of the audience was out of their seats and dancing ("moshing", I believe they call it) by the end. I pretty much let loose in a way I seldom and had an absolute blast. I really loved the way they took simple melodies and developed them, how Eileen and her band interacted with each other, and the wonderful interplay between melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre.
Afterwards we went over to the Cloisters, where I was able to pay my respects at Emmy Noether's grave, which I had been hoping to do for a while. All in all, a night of good times.
