Jan. 20th, 2009 06:33 pmShortly before 11:30 I left lab to head over to the graduate student center in Dudley House, where inauguration coverage was being shown on large screen TV's.
I was not expecting there to be milk and O-shaped Obama '09 cookies. Nor was I expecting the free champagne after President Obama took the oath of office.
Unfortunately the TV in the room I was in unexpectedly conked out in the middle of the inaugural address; we lost about a minute or two of it before someone succeeded in coaxing it back into operation.
At the viewing I ran into a fellow Swattie, class of '05, currently a G4 in classics, and former Algebra I grader/Algebra II pset partner. We had lunch together once during my G1 year but hadn't really been in touch since. Apparently she's since become engaged and will be getting married in October.
