It is, not too surprisingly, apparently impossible to rent a U-Haul anywhere around Somerville on September 1.

Fortunately I have a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck reserved through Zipcar from 12:00 to 5:00 on the 1st; hopefully that will be enough time to get moved.

When [livejournal.com profile] reldnahkram moved in Augustish a few years ago, from Ardmore to Manayunk, he had to go to Delaware for the UHaul truck. And not Wilmington. Nor Newark. But Dover. (This was also an error on UHaul's part, an error discovered on the eve of the pickup.)

Good luck!

A quick search of U-haul's website says that there are trucks available at locations near where I work. I have school that day, but could drop you off to pick up a truck at a location between here and there on my way (or the day before) and help you return it after work.

If you need a hand moving, drop a note to boston-fun and offer pizza, and you've got decent odds of coming up with a few more people (possibly including us :^), some of whom might even come with vehicles.

You could also see if your future roommate is open to letting you move some boxes or suitcases into the common areas over the weekend. Another way to reduce your moving load for the 1st is to move some boxes to your lab or office.
