For the Mawrters reading this...

It's a bit late, but here's the "Te Deum Patrem colimus" traditionally sung from the tower of Magdalen College, Oxford:

There's a translation here. I've always heard this referred to as the "Hymn to the Sun," but it is a Trinitarian hymn with no reference to spring, sunshine, etc. Anyone know if the seniors actually sing this at Bryn Mawr May Day anymore?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't sung any of the years I was there. We definitely didn't sing it my senior year; I remember looking it up to find out what it was and deciding it was too uncomfortably Christian to be worth me learning for May Day.

It was never in the songbooks and my senior May Day, the songsmistress didn't have songsheets. Frankly I was more likely to know it than the songsmistress, but I didn't, because it was never in the songbooks.

We sang You Are My Sunshine instead. We actually managed to get it to stop raining a few times during the day by singing the chorus.

My suspcion is that the official Hymn to the Sun hasn't been sung since. Someone could prove me wrong?
