The world is quiet here...

Got a good bit of work done on the Math Forum stuff, but now brain power is diminishing. Options are either to go to bed, on the theory that a few hours of sleep are better than one, or caffeinate myself heavily.

Kristie LaSalle went through high school not sleeping for days at a time, thanks to No-Doz. Sometimes I wish I could do that. Kristie also advocates staying up all night if one has to wake up really early in the morning. I'm not sure I agree with her there.

I think I'll sleep.

I'd agree that there is a certain point at which you've stayed up late enough that you'll get little enough sleep (for me, less than three hours), and will be groggier if you sleep than if you just stay up. But generally, sleep is good.

I'd also agree-- my trying to get up after only sleeping three hours often just doesn't work. There have been several ti mes where I remained completely unconscious through very loud alarms (including fire alarms). More often, though I get up turn it off without fully waking up.

Last night I had some Very Fine Darjeeling tea.

Caffeine sings. The drug is life itself.

Caffeine extends life.
Caffeine expands consciousness.
Caffeine makes space travel possible.

It doesn't quite replace sleep, though. Live, my friend. Live the life of dreams for a brief and restorative time. Hope that the intersection of the sets of people who got the first and second allusions in this entry is non-null. Dream that the penultimate plea in this message is unnecessary, that those who see will respond, or at least chuckle. Aargh. I'm unreasonably, incurably happy, and this time I have a good reason. It may be the only good reason in this darkling plain. (Ooh! Third intentional allusion.) (I go now, before I tastelessly inflict more unnecessary literary references on y'all.)
