Arrived in Denver last night. Just came from the morning session of talks. Some of them (particularly this one talk on reconnection experiments on MRX at PPPL) were good, and I actually understood most of them. In others, I was totally lost. The last talk of the morning concerned nonlinear fluctuations of some sort in a toroidal plasma. All I really figured out was that their group was measuring the center of mass motion of these amorphous blobs of "excess density perturbations." The very idea of the physics of amorphous blobs is inherently amusing.

Lunchtime... and then a tutorial talk this afternoon.

How's Denver? The babes? Have you been to the beach yet? How about Mount Rushmore or the Sphinx? I guess you're really busy with your Anthropology stuff, learning all about Picasso and everything.

Well, even if you don't get to see many things while you're there, I'm really jealous, you know. I've always wanted to visit Russia.
